Windows Live Mesh
Live Mesh puts you at the center of your digital world, seamlessly connecting you to the people, devices, programs, and information you care about— available wherever you happen to be.

Live Mesh in it’s simplest form is a backup/folder share program that also allows you to connect remotly to your computers. I have just started to use Mesh and I am very excited about the possabilities for this software.

You login with your Windows ID and start to set up your mesh account and download software for each of your devices. It’s very easy to follow and works great between both Vista and XP.

Once you install the software you need to set up a shared folder that will sync with your mesh storage or your devices, mesh will store 5 gig’s (@ mesh.com) for free and if you want to sync folders between devices it’s unlimited.

Mesh Remote Desktop

Mesh Remote Desktop

Remote Desktop has to be one of the best features of mesh, I really like the simplicity of using remote desktop in mesh. I don’t want to have to configure my network to allow remote desktop connections so this makes it so easy to use for everyone to connect to there home computer.

Microsoft has really made a wonderful software product in mesh, I really think that this is going to be one of the most useful tools I use.

I am already thinking of ways to take advantage of this and one thing I have been thinking about is setting up a sync with my mom’s computer and share photos with her. Then point her screen saver at that folder and I can add new photos to her computer at any time.

Also an easier way to administer her computer…

On to Windows Vista

Vista Logo

A few months ago I made a post that I basically did not like Windows Vista because of all the problems I had with it on my old laptop.

Well about 2 months ago our home server died and I had to scramble up a new machine from Dell. I ordered a $233 tower that had Vista pre-installed. I was going to re-format the drive and install Server 2003 but I figured I try out Vista on a new machine.

I have currently been using Vista for about 2 months and I have to say I love it! It’s WAY better than XP and I don’t ever want to install XP on another machine.

Vista is so much better for me and I now realize that my laptop is an old dog that is past it’s day. This new Dell just rocks with Vista and I think its just as easy to work with. I do like the UAC (User Access Control) feature and it is going to make computers safer.

Vista is great and I am going to recomend it to my family members. There is no reason to stay with XP anymore unless you have an old computer that can’t handle Vista.

I still want to get a Mac but as I spend more time in Vista and think more about how much Apple over prices their hardware I really am going to be faced with a big decission.

Bottom Line: If your getting a new computer, get Windows Vista.
